Layout Tap is an NFC-based feature designed to make it easy for customers to download your mobile app in-store. Instead of asking customers to search for your app manually, Layout Tap allows them to simply tap their phone on a physical NFC tag and be taken directly to your app download page.
Each Layout Tap routes customers intelligently based on their device. iPhone users are directed to the App Store, and Android users are directed to Google Play. This creates a frictionless experience that increases the likelihood of app downloads, especially during busy moments when customers want a quick interaction.
Layout provides NFC taps as part of your subscription. These can be placed in high-traffic areas such as near the register, on the counter, by the pickup area, on tables, or at the entrance. Strategic placement is important. Taps work best when they are clearly visible and paired with simple messaging like “Tap to order” or “Tap to download our app.”
All Layout Tap interactions are tracked in the dashboard analytics. You can see how many times each tap was used, when interactions occurred, and whether those taps resulted in app downloads. This helps you understand which placements are most effective and how in-store behavior translates into app adoption.
Layout Tap works alongside other app promotion methods such as staff mentions, signage, and social media. Businesses often see the best results when Layout Tap is introduced verbally by staff during checkout or pickup, followed by a visible NFC tap that customers can use immediately.
If a customer’s phone does not support NFC or has it disabled, they can still download the app using your direct app link. Layout Tap is designed to supplement, not replace, other sharing methods.
NFC taps do not collect personal customer data. They simply route the customer to your app’s download page and record anonymous interaction metrics for analytics purposes.
If you need additional NFC taps, replacements, or help optimizing placement, you can contact Layout support for guidance. Support can also help troubleshoot issues if a tap is not functioning as expected.
