Activating Your Subscription

Learn how to activate your Layout subscription, what gets unlocked after activation, and how billing works behind the scenes.

Activating your subscription is required before you can fully use Layout and begin setting up your branded mobile app. When you first create your account, you’ll have access to the dashboard, but key features such as Square syncing, the setup wizard, and app configuration remain locked until your subscription is active.

To activate your subscription, navigate to the billing section of the dashboard at app.layoutmedia.org/billing. From there, you’ll be guided through a secure checkout flow powered by Stripe. Layout uses Stripe’s hosted billing pages, which means Layout never sees or stores your payment information. All billing details are handled securely by Stripe.

Layout currently offers a single plan, Layout Pro. This plan includes full access to the Layout platform and supports one location. If your business operates multiple locations, you can add additional locations for an additional monthly fee per location. Location count directly affects how many stores can appear in your app and how many locations can receive and fulfill mobile orders.

Once your payment is successfully processed, your subscription becomes active immediately. You do not need to refresh the page or log out and back in. The dashboard will automatically unlock all setup and configuration tools, including the setup wizard, Square connection flow, branding controls, announcements, push notifications, analytics, and the order panel.

After activation, the dashboard homepage will reflect your active status and prompt you to continue with setup. At this point, your app is still private and not visible to customers. Activation simply unlocks access to the tools required to configure and prepare your app. You remain in full control of when and how you launch.

Billing is recurring and handled monthly through Stripe. You can view your current plan, billing history, invoices, and payment method directly from the billing section of the dashboard. If you need to update your payment method, change your plan details, add or remove locations, or cancel your subscription, all of these actions can be completed through the same billing portal without contacting support.

If you cancel your subscription, access to Layout features will be disabled at the end of your current billing period. Your data is not immediately deleted, allowing you to reactivate your subscription later if needed. However, your app will no longer accept new orders or send notifications while the subscription is inactive.

If you encounter any issues during activation, such as payment failures or billing errors, you can retry the checkout process directly from the billing page. For persistent issues, Layout support is available through the support tab in the dashboard or via email at [email protected].

Once your subscription is active, the next and most important step is completing the setup wizard.
